The Department of Psychology and Well-being at Martin Luther Christian University, in partnership with Bethany Society, Shillong, hosted the Beautiful Mind Programme cum Mental Health Mela on the 26th of March 2024. This event aimed to promote mental health awareness and well-being among the community.
The Beautiful Mind Programme cum Mental Health Mela, organized by the Department of Psychology and Well-being at Martin Luther Christian University in collaboration with Bethany Society, Shillong, was a transformative event aimed at promoting mental health awareness and well-being. The opening ceremony commenced with a soulful song performed by B.Sc. IV semester students, followed by a welcoming address from The Hands Foundation Team. Special presentations included a captivating performance by C. Bilila Sangtam, leading into a keynote address delivered by Dr. Porsara M Kharbhih, HOD of the Psychology and Well-being Department at MLCU. Community engagement featured insights shared by the Chief Guest, Ms R Passah (District Social Welfare Officer, West Jaintia Hills), and felicitation of faculty members and students from the Psychology Department, with assistance from the The Hans Foundation Jaintia Project Team. Creative performances included mesmerising choreography and an engaging interactive session. A variety of off-stage activities such as Open Mic, Art Therapy, and Mind Games followed a brief discourse on mental health by Vedika V Nongkynrih. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Wandahun Lywait, encapsulating the commitment of the organizers to foster a mentally healthy society through education, engagement, and empowerment.
