The Department of Sociology aims at enabling students to develop a keen awareness of current issues to become empowered leaders and advocates for social justice.
MISSION
“A department committed to sociological excellence in research and teaching, equipping students to analyze multiple social realities in which they live through critical thinking and problem solving skills, enabling them to become accountable citizens.”
The approach is multidisciplinary in nature and students are also involve in community work.
OBJECTIVES
- To develop an objective understanding of society
- To acquire knowledge that would enable students to be advocates of social justice and change
- To develop a sociological imagination and expand awareness and analysis of complex social forces and individual experiences.
